Day 25 1 Kings 7-16
Oh LORD what a mess. It's like judges all over again. Bad kings who go after other gods and follow them. Guard my heart O LORD (15:3,14) and protect me from worshipping worthless idols. Make my heart devoted to you and obedient to your word for even if it takes years (16:34) your word never fails. Amen.

A couple of things from today:
- I hadn't spotted before that in Solomon's long prayer, he prayers for the gentiles to come to a knowledge of the Lord (1 Ki 8:41-43)
- Nick Page asked "just how strong was Samson?" Not strong enough." You can repeat that with Solomon - how wise was he, the wisest man ever? Not very wise actually, turning his back on God.
All our strngth, all our intelligence, all our knowledge only show us how utterly dependent on the grace of a just God we are.
